Despite Fortnite being a fairly new game, it has some real gems when it comes to skins.
The game is constantly pushing out new cosmetics and with no surprise, there are already some really rare ones. Some are seasonal, early releases or skins that only hit the shop for very limited times.
However, some of these skins are in a random rotation, so it could be a good idea to have a check once in a while if your favorite, hard to get item is available in the shop.
But there are some items on this list which probably and sadly, never will be obtainable within the game again. If you got one of these, lucky you and hold tight to your account. And if you are interested in seeing all the available skins or best fortnite dances check out Pro Game Guide who composed the images.
Let’s have a look at the top 25 rarest skins in Fortnite Battle Royale!
25. Candy Axe
The Candy Axe was released as a seasonal skin for Christmas, but it’s not that rare as many were playing during holidays. No one knows yet if the same skins will be available for next Christmas, or new skins will be made. The skin itself is a candy cane with Christmas lightning twisted around it.
24. Blue Team Leader
The skin Blue Team Leader are only awarded for PlayStation 4 players who played fortnite and linked their accounts. Just if you have PS plus which are a subscription service that enhances your PSN account for Playstation. So it’s technically not free for everyone. You could also use this skin on PC if you link your accounts and the skins should be synced eventually. It also comes with a glider with the same color theme, and the combo is not that remarkable, but it’s quite rare because of all the steps it requires to receive it.
23. The Reaper
The Reaper was the last outfit to be gained in the Season 3 Battle Pass. You had to obtain Tier 100 to be able to unlock it, which made only the most dedicated players achieve it. However, Fortnite had many players during Season 3, and many completed this skin. So it’s not that uncommon the be seen in the game. It will probably never be re-released as the season has ended already. The skin is based on the John Wick movie franchise, and many referred it to just John Wich, instead of the Reaper.
20. Sgt. Green Clover
This skin was released on the St. Patrick’s Day and was available for a very limited time. No extremely many bought the skin, but it was in a time when Fortnite really was gaining popularity. It was part of the Green Clover Set and might be available the next holiday, but only time will tell. However, some people complained that the model felt taller with its hat, and might be another reason why its not very commonly seen anymore.
21. Red Knight
Many regretted not buying this skin at the start of Season 2 when it was available in the item shop. It’s one of the best looking and rarest skins to get hold off; it has similarities to the Black Knight skin. Just that this one is red influenced, it also comes with a back piece called the Red Shield that can be used with any other skin you want. It has been available only a couple of times in the shop and cost 2000 V-Bucks. Despite being seen more regularly, assumably because a lot of people bought it as it is so appealing. It is still extremely rare, and many are looking forward to getting hold of this skin.
19. Omega - Full Armor
This is the highest skin available for the Battle Pass Season 4. You have to reach tier 100, either by leveling up with Battle Stars or bring out your money. It’ll take a lot of time to grind this skin as tier 100 was increased in XP from previous seasons. You’ll need a whopping 1000 Battle Stars to reach this tier, but with the Battle Pass will significantly help you out with its weekly challanges. However, with 5000 XP boost per week, it will still take some real dedication. The skin itself is rare because mostly the ones who received it was these that bought their progress with V-bucks.
Raven was really a skin that stood out from the rest of the skins available at the time. As it was known to the public before it was released, combined with its unique look, it was hugely anticipated as it got published in the shop. Also known for making Fortnite players doing their first-ever cosmetic gaming purchase. It was an expensive item as it cost approximately $20 and many argue it could be the best Fortnite skin ever released. However, not the rarest!
17. Love ranger
The skin the most bought because of its wings might be a true statement; you often see the wings more than the actual skin itself. It resembles a statue of an angel and has a detailed concrete look to it, and was in the Royale Hearts Set, released on a Valentine’s day event held in the game. You could think that this would be a one time item in the Fortnite shop. Sadly, it has been readded to the store and therefore making it a lot less uncommon. But I guess people who missed this skin at first are happy about that.
16. Tower Recon Specialist
This skin looks almost like the normal default skin as you get when you first install the game, and that’s also what makes it rare. No one is literally buying it as its nothing special at all, and arguably quite expensive for what it is. It’s however very hard to get hold off and has only been seen a couple of times in the item shop.
15. Mako glider
This glider called Mako is mostly rare because it was released during Season 1. A lot fewer people played back then, and it was a free reward as soon as you hit level 25. However, it was later accidentally added back in the game on January 1, 2018, for 500 V-bucks. Which gave the rarity a drawback, but its still relatively uncommon in the game. You just can not know if it was received in Season 1 or purchased at a later stage, therefore placing it further down the list.
14. Ginger gunner
The ginger skin comes with a male and female appearance and pictures a Christmas-themed gingerbread character. It was available for a limited time during holidays and haven’t been seen since. If it’s not re-released next season, it will increase in rarity and make it more exclusive to those who have it.
13. Chomp Jr.
Chomp Jr. is one of the most unique pickaxes available in the game, released in the item shop in February 2018. The shark wiggles while swinging it and has a goofy look to it. If you like having an ocean themed look, this is a must. However, it is tough to get hold of and is not that common to be seen in Battle Royale.
12. Rainbow Smash
The Rainbow Smash pickaxe is unique and fresh in a way that is different from the rest of the pickaxes. It reacts to how many players you eliminate while playing the game, the horn on the unicorn will start to glow more and more after each elimination. Which gives the player a neat extra feature, besides being rare. It was first for sale for only one day but has later been re-released once more in the item shop for a limited time. Which places it further down the list.
11. Pot o’ Gold
The Pot o’ Gold pickaxe turns your harvesting tool into a magical 3-leaf clover, released on St Patrick’s Day. It was only up during this event for three days and relatively rare to be seen in the game. There are little gold coins that fall out as you move or swing it, which is a unique feature of this skin.
10. Brite Bag
This back bling skin called Brite Bag was first leaked several weeks before it was released. It was speculated that the only way to obtain it was to be a developer at Epic games. Eventually, it was found in the item store bundled together with another skin called Brite Gunner. These two skins work very well along with the Rainbow Smash. The Brite Gunner has only been seen three times in the market, and therefore this back piece might be the rarest back bling for Fortnite available.
9. Recon Expert
The description of this skin even says “Rare recon expert outfit,” and without a doubt it is. The skin itself is very basic and nothing extraordinary at all, on top of that it had a quite hefty price tag at 1,200 V-Bucks which made fewer people buy it. It is super rare, honestly, have you ever seen this skin in the game? Recon Expert was available during Season 1 in the item shop (then called the cash shop) and haven’t been seen since then. On top of that, it was only up for sale for one day only. The ones who have this, use it for the only reason of its rarity.
8. Aerial Assault Trooper
Aerial Assault Trooper is no longer available and was part of the Season 1 Battle Pass. Imagine how many new players have come to Fortnite since then, and if seen you know you are dealing with someone who has been around for a while. Simply put, a very rare skin. Also back then you had first to unlock level 15, and then buy the skin from the item shop. There are very few users who actually have this skin, but those who have it are the real early birds. Also, the skin itself is once again nothing extraordinary which made fewer people buy it, but that resulted in that skin only became even rarer later on.
7. Aerial Assault One
Together with the Aerial Assault Trooper this glider was a perfect match. You had to be level 5 to buy from the item shop for 500 V-Bucks. Very few people actually purchased this glider, and might very well be the rarest glider in the game. It has a green camouflage print and orange colored stipe and stars. It was nothing special back then, but if you use it now, you’ll be noticed because of its rarity. It is no longer available to be obtained as it was released during Season 1.
Reaper, not the be confused with The Reaper is a rare harvesting tool regarding the Grim Reaper’s Scythe. The pickaxe is not part of any set; however, it was released during Halloween together with the Ghoul Trooper & Skull Trooper skins. Many prices this item as the best pickaxe for fortnite, mainly because of its look, feel and now also, its rarity.
Update October 26, 2018:
The Reaper pickaxe has just like the Skull Trooper skin, reappeared in the item shop. Which might take this from one of the most unique skins to the most popular pickaxe ever, we’ll see how it evolves.
5. Skull Trooper
The Skull Trooper skin was released during the Halloween event in Fortnite, and haven’t made a return since. Many hope it will make a comeback next holiday, but Epic games seem to enjoy releasing new skins all the time. Maybe they want to keep the uniqueness & rarity of this particular skin than taking the easy way and reusing old skins. It features a pantied skeleton costume with face makeup and not that commonly seen in the battlefields. However, it is an extremely rare skin but many who had the chance to buy within the limited time did.
Update October 10, 2018:
Skull Trooper has returned to the item shop for this years Halloween. This will obviously make this skin a lot less rare. However, if you repurchased this skin and already has the original one, you will get the new Purple Glow Style, which now makes the purple version of Skull Trooper the rarest skin.
3. Ghoul Trooper
Ghoul Trooper, the pair of the Skull Trooper skin. Also released during the Halloween event and was a character looking like a ghoul with bluish skin. There are mainly two reasons why this is rares than the Skull Trooper skin. First, it was less good-looking than the other in many peoples opinion. There wasn’t much to it other than some minor cosmetic changes. Secondly, it was 300 V-Bucks more expensive than the Skull version, which really made no sense. Why pay more for a skin that looked worse? However, that made the skin even rarer after the two disappeared from the item shop as fewer people bought the Goul.
2. Raider’s Revenge
The Raider’s Revenge is an epic pickaxe skin from the season 1, where you had to be level 35 to be able to purchase it from the cash store for 1500 V-bucks. This is so rare because there was only one chance to get it, and that was during Season 1. On top of that, you had to spend around $15 and reach a certain level. It was the highest level item you could get during that Season, and therefore this item will only gain in rarity the longer the Fortnite game will be adding more things. If you ever see this pickaxe in-game, be sure to have a good look!
1. Renegade Raider
At last, the rarest skin in Fortnite Battle Royale. The Renegade Raider skin was a reward from the Season 1, and you had to reach level 20 to be able to buy it off the item store using 1200 V-Bucks. This skin is so rare mainly because it was from the early days of Fortnite Battle Royale, and the players who hit level 20 primarily didn’t add the extra cash to purchase the skin. To be honest, it wasn’t that extraordinary even back in that time, so why spend money on it. However, today many regret not doing so, as it might very well be the rarest Fortnite skin there is. You can see many big streamers use this skin from time to time, including Ninja. Only to show they have been here since day one. It’s definitely not the most delicate skin in the game, but that doesn’t matter as it’s very rare. The chance that you ever see this skin running around on the battlefields are very slim. One more thing, you had to reach level 20 at the beginning of the Season 1 (within the first five days) otherwise the item would be locked. Reports say that only a few hundred people bought it, and imagine the percentage of people own it compared to the millions of players Fortnite has now.
Hope you enjoyed this list, and if you did make sure to share it!
